Portfolio Examples

On this page I shall display various images of my work over the past year that I feel are beneficial for me and represent how my animation skills are progressing.

I will start with linking the blogs of other successful 3d animators here that I will use as examples of where I would like to be at some point later in my career.

First off, the link below will take you to a massive 3d creature designer and animator. Neville Page has worked on some extremely high budget movies as head creature designer such as James Cameron's Avatar, Ridley Scott's Prometheus and J.J. Abrams Star Trek revamp.

My Portfolio

Hello, thank you for checking out my blog page and reaching my portfolio. My name is David Young, I'm currently studying Computer Arts and Design at Dundee College, Scotland.

I've always been doodling cartoons, as far back as I can remember.

In fact, one of my first ever memories from when I was a young boy was drawing pictures of Sonic The Hedgehog.

As a youngster, I was fascinated with cartoons and comic books, I'd draw and copy them all the time. Then I branched out and started drawing my own characters. They would just pop into my mind. I'd jot them down before they escaped, store them. Who knew years down the line, I'd be able to bring my stories to life!

I spent the better part of two years creating an idea in my head. I put this idea onto paper. I began with creating short comic books when I was 17 but they never really stood out to me. My drawings were simply still images, frozen. I needed to bring them to life through movement. This is where I began studying animation.

The above video is an experimental video I created of my son holding a lightsaber. I used Adobe After Effects and Premiere.

The above video is a short film that shows the waterfalls at The Hermitage in Perthshire, Scotland. I edited it together using Adobe Premiere.
